Colt bred along similar line to You and I

Here is a colt by one of the most striking racehorses of the modern era bred on an almost identical cross to a Met Mile winner and Belmont Park track record setter.

This colt’s sire Rock Hard Ten was one of the leading three-year-olds of 2004, winning the Grade II Swaps Stakes and finishing runner-up in two Grade I events: the Preakness Stakes and Santa Anita Derby. His success carried over to his four-year-old season, as he won four consecutive graded races in 2005, including Grade I triumphs in the Malibu Stakes going seven-furlongs and the Santa Anita Handicap going the classic distance of 1¼ miles.

Rock Hard Ten retired with a record of seven wins from 11 starts and earnings over $1,800,000.

Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens gave Rock Hard Ten possibly his biggest compliment when he called the son of Kris S.: “The best horse I ever rode.”

The dam of this colt, Fiddlin Devon, is a winning daughter of Deputy Minister that has produced three winners from three starters, including the stakes-placed Bear’s Swan.

Fiddlin Devon is out of the remarkable racehorse and grade-one producing La Chaposa, a winner of 13 races in her native Peru, including two Grade I events. She was voted 1983 champion sprinter in her homeland after winning six graded races that season.

La Chaposa has produced 10 individual winners as a broodmare, including Grade I winners Chaposa Springs and You and I.

Chaposa Springs won 12 stakes races during her tremendous career. Her name is etched in the history books of the prestigious Saratoga meeting, as she is one of just seven distaffers to win the Grade I Test Stakes as a three-year-old before capturing the Grade I Ballerina Stakes as an older mare.

Most interesting about this colt is that he is bred along similar lines to the brilliant miler You and I, winner of four graded stakes in his career, including the most important Metropolitan Handicap. You and I also set the course record for seven-furlongs at Belmont Park when he stopped the clock at 1:20 1/5 winning the 1994 Grade II Riva Ridge Stakes.

This a proven and deep cross that has also produced Grade I winners Brass Hat and Arch.

DYNAFORMER – LEH SHE RUN, by PULPIT

Purchased for $110,000 from the 2009 Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

This colt worked an eighth of a mile in :10 3/5 seconds on April 2. Video of his workout can be seen here.

Colt is closly related to G1-winner First Samurai

This colt is by a stallion with worldwide appeal out of a mare by Pulpit, the sire of Centennial’s millionaire and Breeders’ Cup winning Corinthian.

While he was a graded-stakes winner on the racetrack, Dynaformer has made his legacy as a stallion. He continues to be regarded as one of the premier sires in Kentucky, if not the world. He has produced 84 stakes winners from 17 crops, including Barbaro, only the sixth horse to win the Kentucky Derby while undefeated. In addition to Barbaro, Dynaformer has also produced 10 other individual Group or Grade I winners. He currently commands $150,000 as a stud fee and is fully booked once again this season.

The dam of this colt, Leh She Run, is a young mare that already produced a winner in Europe from her first two foals. Leh She Run is out the graded-stakes producing Fappiano mare Frisson, who is best known as the dam of Freddie Frisson, a stakes winner on the racetrack and the dam of First Samurai, one of the best horses of his generation.

First Samurai was regarded as the winter book favorite for the 2006 Kentucky Derby after impressive victories in the Grade I Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga and Grade I Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park. He was the first horse in 15 seasons to win both races in a juvenile campaign. As a three-year-old, First Samurai won the Grade II Fountain of Youth before retiring to the famed Claiborne Farm in Kentucky, where he now commands a $30,000 stud fee.

Here is a deep and strong female family that should continue to develop well into the coming years.

The cross of Dynaformer and Pulpit has appeal throughout the thoroughbred world, as it has produced Grade III winners Drum Major and Slew the Red in North America, in addition to Symboli Kris S., a legend of the turf in Japan who retired with earnings over $8,400,000.
